Glass walkway opens on Xuedou Mountain
Lingyundu Glass Walkway, the longest of its kind in Zhejiang Province, started trial operations on Sunday on Xuedou Mountain, one of the most popular tourism destinations in Ningbo.
Totaling 160 meters long and at a height of 200 meters, the glass walkway lies beside 242-meter-high Xufuyan Waterfall and boasts a view of the misty surrounding mountains.
It is able to bear 800 kilograms per square meter and is a new scenic spot offering a thrilling experience on the mountain famous for its refreshing air, greenery and historical sites.
A camp ground near the walkway is ideal for barbecues on the grass and staying overnight in one of the dozen RVs available for rent.
And the historic Xuedou Temple, dating back to the Jin Dynasty (AD 265-420), lies 7.5 kilometers to the southeast of the walkway.
It is home to a 56.74-meter-tall bronze statute of the Maitreya Buddha, which is the tallest of its type in a sitting position, in the world.
